TDSET3 automates a wide range of
tests for 10Base-T, 100Base-Tx, and 1000Base-T technologies. The portfolio
of tests includes core PMA and MDI tests like Template, Distortion,
Return Loss, Jitter (including the proposed alternate Jitter method),
Common-mode Voltage, and more.
Comprehensive Return Loss Test
TDSET3 ingeniously performs the Return Loss test for 85, 100,
and 115 Ω (111 Ω for 10Base-T) impedances as prescribed by the standards.
The tests are done using the same tools like oscilloscope and AWG
used for other tests, implying efficient usage of resources.

Recommendations:
- For 1000Base-T tests, bandwidth of 1 GHz or more.
- For 100Base-Tx tests, bandwidth of 500 MHz or more.
- 8 M record length or more for 1000Base-T Filtered Jitter tests. 16 M
record length or more is required for the proposed 1000Base-T alternate
jitter method. (Note: This alternate method is for information
purposes only).
- For 1000Base-T Jitter tests, select TDS7000B
Series oscilloscope.

Note: The new AWG7000 Series, AWG5000 Series, and AFGs will
be qualified as Disturbing Signal generators and for use in Return
Loss tests shortly. Lookout for a data sheet update.
*5 AWG4xx when used for 1000Base-T Return Loss measurement has
a limitation up to 98.5 MHz. The return loss values between 98.5 MHz
and 100 MHz are extrapolated results.
Differential Probes
Recommended P6247, P6248, P6330, P7330, and P7350.
Note: RL Test and 10Base-T tests without TPM require P6247 and
P6248. Two probes required for Return Loss tests.
For DPO7000
Series oscilloscopes, use P6247, P6248, or P6330 probes with a TPA-BNC
adapter.
P7330 and P7350 cannot be used with the DPO7000 Series.
Active Probes(1000BASE-T Jitter Tests with Access to Clock)
P6243 or P6245 (two needed for Slave Jitter Test, and one for
Master Jitter Test).
For the DPO7000 Series Oscilloscopes,
use P6243 and P6245 probes with a TPA-BNC adaptor.
